The studio behind Cops vs Robs
The mechanics they built into it are pulled apart on the Cops vs Robs bonus features page.
Company History
Belatra has been around far longer than most of the studios it now competes with. It started in 1993 building physical slot cabinets and casino electronics, and its early machines — Lucky Drink, Piggy Bank, An Escape from Alcatraz — became fixtures in venues across Eastern Europe and Latin America long before anyone was thinking about HTML5.
The online catalogue came later and now runs past a hundred titles. Cops vs Robs, launched in April 2026, is the studio in a more ambitious mood: a 5x5 noir crime slot whose defining idea is handing the volatility setting to the player rather than fixing it in the maths.
What They Do Best
Player-Set Volatility
The Cops and Robbers switch in Cops vs Robs is the clearest example — one control that reconfigures the distribution and the Wild multiplier cap while leaving the published 96.11% return untouched. Very few studios ship that, and fewer still make it the centre of the game.
Arcade Heritage
Three decades of building physical cabinets shows up in the pacing. Belatra's online slots tend to be legible and quick rather than layered with mechanics, which is why a game with five separate features still reads clearly on a phone screen.
Fairness & Licensing
Belatra holds licences from the Malta Gaming Authority and the UK Gambling Commission alongside a Curacao licence, and its games are certified by Gaming Laboratories International. The same certified RNG runs in demo and cash play. The studio does not publish symbol pay values or trigger frequencies, so the in-game paytable is the place to confirm specifics for the build your casino runs.
Why Cops vs Robs?
Cops vs Robs does something almost no other slot does: it lets you move the volatility without moving the return. Choose Cops and the Wild multiplier stops at x5 in exchange for a steadier session; choose Robbers and it runs to x10 with the 10,000x grand prize genuinely in reach. That is a real decision, made before every spin, and it is the reason to play this one over any other crime-themed slot.
